Scapa Flow, Orkney

Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands is probably one of the most famous wreck diving locations in the world. The Imperial German High Seas Fleet was interned there under the terms of the Armistice at the end of WW1 while negotiations took place over the fate of the ships. Fearing that ships would be shared out between the victors Admiral Ludwig von Reuter decided to scuttle the fleet. On 21 June 1919 52 of the 74 ships sank. Many of the wrecks were salvaged over the years but a significant number still remain and have become renowned sites for divers from all over the world (Wikipedia, 2024)

This dive trip is being organized by Teddington Sub Aqua Club (TSAC).

TSAC has chartered the liveaboard Clasina, skippered by Bob Anderson of Halton Charters. The group will board the boat on Saturday and commence diving from Sunday through to Friday. Clasina’s website has information about the wrecks and the itinerary for the week.

This is an all inclusive liveaboard in shared cabins (bedding provided).

There are SIX spaces available. Divers must be experienced PADI Deep Divers, BSAC Sports Divers or equivalent. Groups or buddy pairs preferred.

Equipment required: Minimum of single with 5/7 litre stage. Air fills are free. Oxygen is available onboard (extra charge) plus the skipper can supply helium provided sufficient notice is given (extra charge). He also has 12 and 15 litre cylinders for hire.

Cost: 7 nights all inclusive accommodation and six days diving = £1188 per person

There will an opportunity to visit the Scapa Museum and the Lyness Royal Naval Cemetary on Hoy as well as other parts of the Flow.
