The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course is the first step to becoming a full Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).
Run by our in-house Course Directors, James Wilkinson& Scott Roberts, the AI course runs over 5 days, or a number of evenings (the first section of the IDC), depending on the amount of candidates attending. The program includes academic, confined water and open water teaching sessions and takes you through the basics of becoming an instructor.
We run several IDCs per year, both in the UK and in Sharm El Sheikh and you can join for just the first half to complete your Assistant Instructor.
Qualifying as an AI allows you to progress on to the OWSI program and allows you to teach programs like the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty, Project Aware and also gain valuable experience conducting certain portions of the Open Water Diver Course. Therefore you can gain some real life teaching practice whilst also building your experience working as part of an instructing team.
