Join us for a quick escape to Iceland and discover the country of ice and fire above and underwater in August 2019.

Having successfully run a trip with Byron and his team at Magmadive in 2017, we have elected to work with them again to organise our 2019 trip giving you the chance to see the best of Iceland.

Arriving on the 28th of August in Reykjavik, the Magma dive team will pick us up from the airport and drop us to our accommodation https://tiny-guesthouse-laugardalur.hotelsreykjavik.net/en/ located 15min walk from the centre of Reykjavik. It is a family owned guesthouse, clean and comfortable and conveniently located close to the biggest geothermal swimming pool in the area. People use this pool as a social place instead ofn the pub and we every day on our last trip! We have an optional evening meal organised at Magmadive HQ with the team of guides that will take us on our Icelandic adventures, and we will visit the dive centre. We then have 2 days of diving planned: 4 dives, 4 different dive sites in a mix of cracks and sea diving. We have also planned an extra day of land sightseeing visiting some of the most iconic landmarks such as Gulfoss and the Thingvellir National Park. The final day will be free for some shopping in the centre before we fly home!

Diving:

2 days of diving on 4 different sites including the famous Silfra crack and a hunt for the ugly wolf wish in the sea.

The first day will be an early start at Silfra as Byron likes to get us there and be the first ones in the water, quiet, no one else in your pictures! For the 2nd dive of the day we are heading off the beaten track, away from the crowds, to dive another crack, not as famous as Silfra but as breath taking (not just because of the cold).

The next day we will be Sea diving. It is hard to tell now where exactly we will be diving as it is weather dependent but what we can tell you is last year we found the ugly wolf fish, there were some seals playing around and plenty of life on the seabed with a bonus of feeling super warm after the freezing water of previous day. Again 2 dives on 2 different dive sites.

We recommend a minimum certification of OWD with preferably a Drysuit specialty. As well as certifications, experience in cold water, diving in a drysuit and walking around with kit will help you to get more of your trip as the water is very cold and we need to walk back to the start point (Silfra is like a little drift dive and starts about 4-5min walk from the cars). Mehdi our Technical diving instructor and Byron’s team will be there to help or guide you and make sure all goes smoothly. Training can be provided prior the trip

Land Based Advemntures:

Our 3rd day we will go for our Golden circle tour. Pick up early morning for a tour of the natural beauties that Iceland has to offer. Waterfalls, natural hot springs and the impressive geyser will leave you with amazing memories and stunning pictures. Bring your swimming costume as we will probably end the tour with a visit to a nice little geothermally heated lagoon.

As Reykjavik is only 15min from the Guesthouse it’s easy to go shopping, out for diner or visit the city and the pool is less than 5 min away.

Depending on your flight the last day can be spend doing another activity that Byron could arrange or simply get some free time in the city before our transfer back to the airport.
